Publications

The National Museum and Research Centre of Altamira produces a range of publications relating to its character as a national museum and the importance and unique nature of its collections, especially the cave of Altamira. In this sense, the updating of scientific knowledge of cave archaeology and art in the cave of Altamira and research about its conservation constitute an important part of the catalogue outlined on this page. Given that the cave is firmly inscribed on the World Heritage List, aspects relating to the comprehensive management of the monument are also emphasised. Finally, the Museum of Altamira maintains another editorial vein, of an eminently scientific nature, which publishes doctoral theses and technical studies under the Monographs series.
