In 2025, the Museum celebrates the centenary of its founding, marking the milestone that shaped its collections: the Regional Costume Exhibition, held at the Palace of Libraries and Museums in Madrid in 1925. This exhibition brought together a vast collection of garments linked to traditional dress, alongside historical clothing. It demonstrated both a remarkable interest in attire—particularly in popular culture—and the richness of its heritage, deeply connected to intangible cultural heritage, showcasing traditional uses, techniques, and processes.
To commemorate this anniversary, we have prepared a program of activities designed to bring this legacy closer to everyone. From an international conference to concerts, guided tours, and workshops for all ages, the Museum of Costume will serve as a meeting point between tradition and modernity.
We invite you to discover how tradition engages with the present, inspiring contemporary fashion and reaffirming craftsmanship as a cultural value in constant evolution.
We celebrate the centenary of the Regional Costume Exhibition, a pioneering showcase that laid the foundation for the current Museum of Costume and marked a milestone in the study and preservation of traditional Spanish dress.
Dates: May – October 2025
